Mining Production Control: what the Mining Authority requires and how to report

Ask about this service

In brief

What it is

Preparation of the periodic production report that the Mining Authority requires from every title holder in the production stage, whether operating or not.

When you need it

  • Your mining title is already in the production stage
  • You have pending or overdue production reports
  • Your production figures do not match the royalties

What we deliver

  • Completed FRI forms
  • Technological capacity form
  • Control-point flow diagram
  • Support uploading to the platform

Production Control is the system in which each title holder reports to the Mining Authority what is extracted from the title. The obligation covers every holder in the production stage, whether or not they are operating at the time, so a lack of activity does not exempt them from reporting. It is done on the authority's online platform, with accurate information and within the established deadlines.

The forms that make up the report

The information is organized into several documents that, together, describe how the operation works:

  • Information Record Forms (FRI): capture production, inventories, royalties, projections, works, material sent to processing, machinery use and production stoppages.
  • Technological capacity form: describes the capacity with which extraction and processing are carried out under your title.
  • Control-point flow diagram: represents how material moves between extraction and processing, and at which points it is controlled.

Deadlines and consistency with other reports

The authority set transition schedules by mining scale, and for medium and small-scale mining they are already in force. Once those deadlines pass, failing to report can lead to sanctions. Reported production is also compared with royalty and consideration payments, and an inconsistency between those figures can trigger oversight actions. The report must also be consistent with the approved PTO, and when actual production departs from the plan, the difference must be explainable with operating data.

From the mining file to the uploaded report

Before completing any form we review your PTO and your royalty declarations, because they are the references the authority will compare your report against. On that basis we prepare the FRI forms, the technological capacity form and the control-point diagram so that they are consistent with each other. We then support you with the upload to the platform and verify that reported production matches declared royalties, so that any difference is explained from the first report.

Legal framework

  • Resolution 371 of 2024 of the National Mining Agency, amended by Resolution 3749 of 2025Conditions and frequency of production reporting
  • Law 685 of 2001, art. 227Royalties as a mandatory consideration

Regulations reviewed in October 2026. This is general guidance; the decision on each procedure rests with the competent authority.
